Genentech

Job Description

The Position

This Postdoctoral Fellow will be mentored by an experienced researcher with a track record of developing novel technologies that have led to at least 12 monospecific and bispecific antibody therapeutics used to treat millions of patients worldwide. The successful candidate will engineer antibodies and other proteins through rational design and molecular evolution technologies to enhance their existing properties or endow them with new capabilities. Research interests of our lab include: i) pursuit of the ‘high-hanging fruit’ - making intractable targets for antibodies druggable; ii) engineering of antibodies to improve their high concentration properties for subcutaneous delivery; iii) immunogenicity risk-assessment and mitigation for engineered antibodies; and iv) applications of AI/ML for antibody optimization.

Requirements:

  • A Ph D in Molecular Biology, Protein Chemistry, Structural Biology or related discipline.

  • One or more first author research publications in high quality journals in protein/antibody engineering or a related field.

  • Experience in protein/antibody engineering from rational design, through generation of mutants, to the expression, purification and characterization of mutant proteins is desirable.

  • Expertise with molecular evolution technologies such as yeast or phage display is a plus.

  • In preparing your CV, please include a complete list of your publications with full bibliographic information.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Creative individuals with a passion for science and capable of independent work in a collaborative environment are particularly encouraged to apply.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are needed.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $64,800 and $120,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
