The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology is currently seeking a full time Post Doctoral Associate to work in Miami. The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned. Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

  • Experience with commonly used software and protocols in the biomaterials community.

  • The incumbent must have a publication record according to their experience, scientific writing skills.

  • The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively within a diverse and dynamic team.

  • The incumbent must have adequate skills and knowledge in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

  • The incumbent must possess the ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems quickly and effectively and should be able to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

  • The successful applicant must have the ability to be able to assist in grant writing and submission.

  •  Proven capability to carry out and follow through complex, multifacted research projects.

Department Specific Functions

1. Aseptic technique.

2. Animal models, most importantly ovine, canine, porcine and rabbit models. 3. Additive manufacturing of biomaterials (metals/polymers/ceramics) and their characterization, including but not limited to X-Ray Diffraction, Rheology, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy,

Thermogravimetric Analysis, Differential Scanning Calorimetry.

4. Initiating and maintaining cell cultures of human osteoprogenitors and periodontal fibroblasts.

5. PCR, cellular viability assays (Presto Blue/MTT), cellular adhesion assays (Crystal Violet), and immunohistochemistry. 

6. Sample preparation for non-decalcified histological sample preparation and image analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Ph.D required

Experience: No prior experience is required
