Position Summary

The Refrigeration Engineer independently performs maintenance and repairs on HVAC units and systems and other engineering plant equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Operates, maintains, and repairs HVAC units, associated equipment and controls (including, but not limited to: window AC, split units, refrigeration units, boilers, steam heating equipment, thermostats, and other control related devices and other equipment typical to craft.
  • Stands watch mechanic tour monitoring engineering plant equipment and maintains required logs. Monitors pressure, temperatures, and other related parameters; performs preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems and associated equipment. Answers general repair service calls for campus.
  • Monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains control systems, including pneumatic, Direct Digital Control, and hybrid systems. Makes changes and monitors building management computer systems.
  • Repairs and maintains other mechanical and physical plant systems, including motors, pumps, valves, steam operated equipment, air filters, belts, and other related plant equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equilivant.
  • Minimum of 5 years in AC repair and service, knowledge of digital and pneumatic controls.
  • NYC Refrigeration Systems Operator’s License required.
  • EPA CFC Certification required.
  • NYC Dept of Health Pool Operator’s Certificate, NYC Sprinkler & Standpipe and Interior Fire Alarm Certificate of Fitness preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

Minimum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $3,990.40

Maximum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $3,990.40

Minimum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $3,192.00

Maximum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $3,192.00
