Job Description

Loyola University Chicago is seeking an Assistant Professor – Finance to continue with current research and develop new research projects to eventually publish research in high level journals; teach assigned courses, currently assigned courses for the upcoming academic year are as follows: Investments (undergraduate; application of financial theory to investments), Financial Analytics (2 times, undergraduate; building financial models with Python), Financial Mathematics and Modeling I (master’s; building financial models with Python); hold office hours; advise students; present research work at the department seminar and at major conferences; serve as a reviewer for major conferences and for academic journals; attend graduate and undergraduate events; join a Quinlan School of Business Committee and serve as the department representative. Up to 10% travel required.

 

Qualifications
Doctorate degree in Business Administration with concentration in Finance or related field plus 1 year related experience. Prior experience must include: Conduct and publish high quality academic financial research, formulate research questions, obtain data and set up the proper empirical framework to analyze the data if empirical research, set up a theoretical model and solve it if theoretical research, interpret the results from analyses, and write up the research paper; Teach university-level finance courses, prepare lecture material, teach the material/topics, advise students, conduct and grade exams; Retrieve, merge, and compile data from academic financial research databases (e.g., CRSP, Compustat) for empirical research and analyze the data via econometric methods using statistical software such as SAS and/or Stata; Perform computer programming in Python, and, for empirical research, computer programming in statistical software (e.g., SAS, Stata).
