SUMMARY

Responsible for all accounting financial analysis, financial reporting requirements, cash/revenue monitoring, and audit schedule preparations. Prepare income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements, reports, and records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Analyze general ledger accounts.

2. Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.

3. Reconcile bank accounts.

4. Prepare general entries for online HCC’s official account books.

5. Perform revenue analysis for inter fund accounts.

6. Prepare audit work papers.

7. Participate in month-end and fiscal-end closing of accounting books.

8. Interact with internal and external auditors as well as funding agencies relating to accounting matters.

9. Prepare period closing entries including accruals, deferral and recurring entries.

10. Prepare annotated statistical reports, which detail financial operations (e.g., cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, etc.)

11. Analyze financial information and prepare reports to summarize current and projected financial position of college.

12. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts.

13. Audit contracts, orders, vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transaction prior to settlement.

14. Establish, modify, document, and coordinate accounting control procedures.

15. Enforce compliance with operational policies and procedures.

16. Supervise personnel, including scheduling, assigning tasks, assuring that work meets quality standards.

17. Update online accounting tables.

18. May update Student Financial Services section of Catalog and Schedules.

19. May prepare Student Financial Journal Vouchers.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field with at least 18 hours of Accounting required.

Eight (8) years directly related work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree

EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years experience in an accounting related field required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of state reporting requirements

Good communication and interpersonal skills

A thorough working knowledge of the application of general accounting principles
Knowledge of external and internal financial auditing procedures

Knowledge of PC, MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Access

Working knowledge of PeopleSoft required
