Campus Technology Technician

Job Description

SUMMARY

Provides basic support for computers, software and related technology used at multiple campuses/locations.  Supports district-wide software upgrades, hardware distribution, technology replacement and asset management. Works collaboratively with Innovation and Instructional Technology department to implement hardware, software and services based on instructional needs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Install and provide basic troubleshooting for PC, cabling, network, telephony, printers, Wi-Fi, peripherals and audio visual/classroom/lab technology and applications;

  2. Provide timely end user support based on incoming tickets, phone calls or e-mails;

  3. Help to maintain a current inventory of equipment for assigned area(s);

  4. Assist with evaluation and testing of new campus hardware and software;

  5. Provide “event support” at HCC offices;

  6. Promote security awareness to customers through actions and advocacy; and

  7. Develop and maintain good working relationships with all customers and IT.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.  The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

 

EDUCATION

Associate’s degree or certification in Computer Science or a related field required.  Four (4) years directly related work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

 

A+ Certification is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years recent experience in hardware/software technical support (HCC experience is considered on a two for one basis).

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of current Mac OS, iOS, Windows and Microsoft Office Suite;

  2. Demonstrated basic competencies in PC hardware/software installation and troubleshooting;

  3. Able to effectively communicate technical information to users of all skill levels;

  4. Must be able to lift 50 pounds;

  5. Must have reliable transportation to occasionally travel to other HCC locations; and

  6. Subject to working nights, week-ends and holidays.
