Post Doctoral Scholar

The postdoctoral scholar will be responsible for conducting research in collaboration with Dr. Andrea Sims and other personnel in the Department of Linguistics at OSU. The scholar will also be responsible for teaching one course per academic year in an area of their expertise, participating in personal professional development activities, and mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students as appropriate.

Research activities will include, but are not limited to, modeling inflectional organization using the mathematical formalism of network theory and other quantitative methods, and testing models using corpus data and/or computational and behavioral experiments. Responsibilities will include developing theoretical models, generating research hypotheses and study designs, preparing study materials, recruiting participants, collecting and analyzing data, and disseminating research findings through both publications and oral presentations. The scholar will also be responsible for helping to secure and maintain regulatory approval (e.g., IRB) and for other research-related administrative tasks (e.g., preparation of datasets and other materials for public dissemination, consistent with principles of open science).

Professional development activities will include, but are not limited to, participation in departmental discussion groups and lab meetings, attendance at Office of Postdoctoral Affairs mentoring/professional development workshops or similar events, and journal peer reviewing, as appropriate.

Minimum Education Required:

Ph.D. in linguistics or related field

Required/Desired Qualifications:

Quantitative data analysis skills, including mixed effects and Bayesian statistics
Knowledge of R and Python or other relevant programming languages
Experience working with PCIbex, Prolific, or similar online services, to collect linguistic data
Published peer-reviewed research on topics related to morphology, cognitive science, or quantitative analysis of linguistic data
