Full Job Description

The Vice President and Executive Director for Foundation is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive external fundraising and friend-raising strategies to promote and advance the College and grow the college’s visibility within the corporate and philanthropic ecosystem of our service area.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in professional fund management, charitable foundation administration, or non-profit fundraising, and working knowledge of development best practices.
  • Comprehension and commitment to the unique nature and role of the community college.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of both curricula and continuing education programs and courses.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community and development.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
 
 
Essential Duties
  • Serve as Executive Director and Vice President for operations of the Forsyth Tech Foundation.
  • Create and execute strategic and annual plans for Forsyth Tech donor cultivation and fundraising.
  • Conduct prospect research, major and corporate gift solicitation, planned giving development, annual giving, capital campaigns, and special events.
  • Oversee contractual relationships with third-party service providers in development and manage strategic partnerships between College/Foundation and external entities.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and administer the operating budget for the areas of the Foundation.
  • Recommend necessary agenda items for the Board of Trustees, attend Board of Trustee meetings, and present status reports on the Foundation development efforts.
  • As requested by the President, participate in the strategic and operational processes of the college with the senior management team.
  • Serve on college committees and represent the college within the community by serving on Board and external committees, etc.
  • Serve as a member of the President’s Executive Leadership Team.
COLLABORATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Collaborate with the CIO/Vice President for Information Technology Services on strategic planning for the affiliated foundation and on the adoption and implementation of appropriate information technology to support development.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Finance and Operations Officer (who also serves as the Treasurer of the Forsyth Tech Foundation) to ensure appropriate financial controls and business processes are observed with management of Foundation funds and to share responsibility for the effective management of scholarship funds.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Economic Mobility & Workforce Outcomes Officer on joint client/donor relationship development and the integration of processes supporting those relationships and work with the Chief Officer to identify resource needs appropriate for external funding.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer to identify resource needs appropriate for Foundation funding and opportunities to support instructional programs.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Officer for Student Success & Strategic Innovation on student support needs appropriate to the fundraising goals of the Foundation.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Officer for Inclusive Excellence and Belonging to identify appropriate fundraising opportunities to support the College’s IE and Belonging efforts.
  • Collaborate with other college staff and faculty as needed including building a close partnership and collaboration with the College’s Grants Development team to ensure grants development and Foundation fundraising efforts are strategic and complementary.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Responsible for Supervision of employees in the Foundation Office.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; corrective action; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Review, revise and implement approved policies for the Office and Foundation that specifically support the college’s mission, goals, objectives and values in development.
