Job Description
The Carnegie Bosch Institute (CBI) is a unique alliance between Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), a world-class academic institution, and the Bosch Group, a leading global supplier of advanced technology and services. Established in 1990 through a significant endowment from Bosch, the core mission of CBI is to leverage the complementary advantages of academia and industry through extensive collaboration.
Applications are invited for the first cohort of Carnegie Bosch Postdoctoral Fellows for the
Fall Semester of 2023 in the areas of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity / privacy.
Fellowships are sponsored by the Carnegie Bosch Institute (CBI), world-class research
center located within Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, PA USA.
Carnegie Bosch Fellowships are two-year awards supporting outstanding postdoctoral
researchers conducting high-potential research within the excellence-driven
environment of CMU. Offering benefits beyond ‘traditional’ postdoc roles, Fellows are
provided with the resources, flexibility, and environment to address “grand challenge” style
problems in line with their research vision together with their faculty host. Postdoctoral
positions supported by CBI provide remarkable opportunities to shape the next generation of
research while offering Fellows the chance to develop their academic careers in exceptional
directions. Fellowship recipients are expected to broadly disseminate their research results via
active engagement with the international research community in their respective fields and
will be provided resources to aid with these efforts, e.g. conference registration + travel.
Core responsibilities will include:
Collecting and analyzing data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
Conducting research experiments within the predetermined research scope and methodology of department and university.
Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies may be required depending on area and specialty.
Other duties as assigned.

How will you take advantage of collaboration opportunities at CMU (and beyond)?
What will be the eventual impact of this research beyond the core technical results?
Letter of Support (maximum one page) from prospective faculty collaboration host at CMU
You should demonstrate:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to write results for publication in the scientific literature.
Ability to plan and facilitate research related events
Strong analytical skills.
Ability to mentor students.
Proficiency to conduct research in the areas specified by the host
Qualifications:
Doctorate degree completion at the time of fellowship commencement
