Brief Summary of Work for this Position
UNCW seeks a dynamic and collaborative leader with a strong background in business development, executive presence experience, strong team leadership skills, as well as expertise in leadership development programs. The ideal candidate will also have leadership experience in a higher education environment with a strong affinity for collaboration across various constituencies: faculty, staff, community leaders, and clients.
Qualified candidates will have proven business relationship skills and the ability to communicate well the mission and vision of the Swain Center, as well as motivate others to partner together in the implementation of the organizational goals.

The Director is expected to be mission driven, committed to public service, able to lead by example with high integrity, and have an executive presence. Additionally, qualified candidates will be client-centric and have an appreciation for the business and organizational challenges of current and future Swain Center clients.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master’s degree in Business Administration (or comparable combination of education and experience) in a field of study relating to industrial/organizational psychology, organizational behavior, leadership, or human resources; knowledge in other business disciples (e.g., operations management, business analytics, marketing) required.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience required; demonstrated experience with consulting projects that include client identification, discovery process, needs assessment, program design, identification of deliverables, proposal development, effective pricing, accurate budgeting, and program delivery.

Knowledge of consulting, client development, and client management best practices for human capital and management/leadership practices in public, private, and nonprofit entities; internal and external consulting experience is strongly preferred.

Personal Qualifications & Competencies
Given the scope and overall responsibilities of the Director position relative to providing viable programs and services throughout the region and State of North Carolina, the ideal candidate will possess the following personal qualities and competencies: integrity; strategic/critical thinker; high degree of emotional intelligence; strong interpersonal communication skills; financial acumen; entrepreneurial mindset; ethical decision maker; cross-cultural competency; conscientious; and the ability to anticipate trends and emerging market needs.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Ten (10) years experience preferred; doctoral degree (DBA or related field of study) is a plus.
