We have an opening for Director of Early College and High School Programs at our Chattanooga State campus!

The role will be responsible for the following:

The Director of Early College and High School Programs manages all activity relating to high school programs including orientation, recruitment, registration, advising, marketing, and materials. In alignment with the College’s purpose, mission and values, the Director of Early College and High School Programs oversees the Early College Program, and partnerships with area school districts to include the STEM High School, Collegiate High, MicroCollege, Mechatronics Academy, Polytech Academies, and Early College Academy at Kimball. The Director of Early College and High School Programs reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS

Holistic Student Support

  • Maintain an extensive knowledge of campus supports available for students and coordinate supports for high schools and students who may need extra supports to realize success
  • Promote, support and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts including academic advising.
  • Collaborate with TSAC point of contact to develop effective communication and website interface
  • Facilitate all communication between Early College faculty, students, college administration, high school administration and parents
  • Facilitates all recruiting, admission, financial aid, scheduling, and grade reporting for dual enrollment students

Fiscal Stewardship

  • Ensures the responsible fiscal stewardship of the funds allocated to the Early College program
  • Oversee TSAC DE Grant activity on campus and at the high schools
  • Verify/certify grant funding for all Collegiate High and Early College students
  • Pursue grant and philanthropic opportunities to support the Early College mission

Organizational Culture and Inclusive Practices

  • Cultivate an equity mindset by working with K-12 institutions to intentionally recruit and retain under-represented student groups
  • Maintain positive relationships with high school and K-12 district partners
  • Manages, supervises, and provides support to Early College staff to meet departmental goals
  • Coordinate with deans and department heads on campus and high school administration to develop the Early College schedule each semester
  • Serve as liaison between all internal and external clients including students, parents, high school and college administration, faculty, student services, and college sites.

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

  • Analyze student success data and constituent feedback to set departmental goals, inform decision making and regular program evaluation
  • Develop effective methods for processing Early College enrollment.
  • Participate in state-wide working groups to address issues relating to high school programs
  • Stay current by reviewing nationwide academic research relating to best practices, trends, and legislation that affect school partnership programs
  • Lead innovative efforts with the academic areas of the College to develop Early College programs that promote retention
  • Assist with other K-12 initiatives and partnerships including STEM High School, Collegiate High and other expansion programs
  • Build a recruitment and retention strategy that focuses on converting Dual Enrollment students to degree-seeking individuals.

Position Requirements:

• Education and training: Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field. • Work experience: 3 years full-time experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education and training: Master’s degree in Education or related field • Work experience: 5 years full-time experience in higher education; some experience working with high school students, faculty, and administration.

 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Skills in oral and written communication for effective communication in a complex and sensitive environment demonstrating tact, patience, diplomacy, and confidentiality • Accurate knowledge of Chattanooga State programs, curriculum and transfer pathways • Strategic planning, problem-solving, management, budgeting, program evaluation • Interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships • Ability to be sensitive to the unique culture of the College in a liaison function • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment managing several projects simultaneously • Ability to work without direct supervision • Frequent travel required; campus visits in 6-county service region

 


Projected Salary Range:

57,260.00 - 71,580.00
