Position Description

This is a remote, home-based position. Must reside in the United States near a major airport.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Diversity Officer, the Principal, Strategic Partnerships will have responsibility for identifying, defining, and executing key diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) partnerships and priorities for ACS. They will engage and support business stakeholders across the enterprise in implementing diversity, equity and inclusion strategies aligned with the Society’s goal of expanding its engagement in diverse communities to meet the mission, revenue, and talent goals of the ACS. The role will be responsible for overseeing the cultivation of external collaborations with social/civic/faith-based partners in diverse communities and corporate/foundation relationships that advance health equity and DEI.

The Principal will leverage leading practices in DEI in support of an enterprise-wide integration of DEI into the organization’s program of work. She/he will seek to increase accountability and leadership alignment as well as to secure buy-in on key initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with leaders across the enterprise to drive measurable integration and accountability with DEI strategies.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Partnerships

  • Develops and implements a DEI partnership strategy that honors enterprise-wide priority communities.
  • Works closely with corporate relations team members to expand our corporate engagement through a diversity lens, engaging with Chief Diversity Officers and high net worth individuals, building new partnerships through alignment of our DEI priorities and their defined corporate social responsibility
  • Creates metrics and accountability measures to ensure DEI goals are established and met by the organization.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in developing DEI-specific proposals, partnering with account teams throughout the sales process.
  • Develops organizational capability to enable engagement with diverse constituents, partners and donors.
  • Leads the development and management of CDO Roundtable.

Leadership & Resource Management

  • Creates and implements enterprise DEI strategies to organizational goals and ISFP. Maintains comprehensive understanding of organizational strategic direction and priorities to drive DEI outcomes.
  • Collaborates with SVP, Chief Diversity Officer to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and expenses related to strategic partnerships.
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) to create buy-in and support for key DEI initiatives to drive volunteer engagement and revenue generation.
  • Leads the execution of DEI initiatives partner centric events and conference activations.

Collaboration

  • Works with business leaders to enhance reputation as organization that values and prioritizes DEI.
  • Creates diversity communities of practice to share best practices and leverage learning across ACS.
  • Collaborates with regions to cultivate partnership opportunities that drive mission support and equity.


Position Requirements

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree desired.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a diversity-focused and/or strategic partnerships role.

  • Proven experience in working with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in diversity, equity and inclusion program implementation.

  • Excellent interpersonal, project management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in coaching and developing direct reports.
  • Highly organized and focused; ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong team building skills.
  • Proven relationship management with key stakeholders, peers and team members.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, presentation, and computer skills.
  • Ability to interact with staff and/or volunteers in a team environment.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including occasional nights and weekends
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs and move tables for training room set up
  • Regular travel required: approximately 25% or more

The starting rate is $120,000-130,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
