Essential functions (job duties):

A new NIH-funded position is available for postdoctoral candidates with experience in conducting drug screening assays, molecular pharmacology experiments, and in vivo pharmacology studies. The chosen candidate’s work will identify chemical compounds with desirable biological activity profiles that are suitable for escalation within the drug development process. The research fellow is expected to work independently on assigned projects and contribute substantially or wholly to their conception, experimental designs, data generation and analysis, and presentation. The postdoctoral fellow’s research will yield reproducible findings pertaining to the biological actions of drug-like molecules and communicate such findings in scientific publications, patent filings, and grant submissions under the guidance of the PI.

Unique duties:


Qualifications:

A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field.

Experience with cell culture techniques, molecular biology techniques (FP, ELISA, FRET, BRET, gel electrophoresis, enzyme inhibition assays), biophysical techniques (SPR, ITC), tumor xenograft models, and genetically modified mouse models. 

Preference is shown for candidates with a strong track record in cancer drug discovery/translational research. Previous experience with experimental techniques for the characterization of PROTACs is an additional plus. 

Experience with target deconvolution using molecular pharmacology & biophysical techniques. 

Experience in conducting combination drug studies in cellulo and in vivo for evaluating synergy and antagonism. 

Demonstrable experience with spheroid (3D) viability assays or other in vitro assays that mimic the human tumor microenvironment (e.g. immune cell-based functional assays) is preferred. 

Experience with nucleic acid techniques such as PCR, ChIP-seq, RNAseq, Sanger Sequencing, and next-generation sequencing techniques is a plus. 

Ability to generate stably transfected cell lines for use in high-throughput drug screening assays is preferred. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate in multidisciplinary project teams, including strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills. 

Excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently and as part of a team, and strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic.
