Job Description
Postdoctoral Research Associate (Hydrologist)
The Terrestrial Hydrology Lab in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of Cincinnati is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to investigate river water quality. Specifically, the research focuses on simulating the generation and transport of sediment and nutrients in rivers at the continental scale by leveraging models, remote sensing, and data science techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to develop/modify hydrological/surface water quality models to simulate riverine sediment and nutrients and further improve sediment/nutrients quantification by integrating remote sensing and models. The candidate will also be expected to present research results at conferences and publish peer-reviewed articles. The initial appointment is for one year, with possible annual renewals for another two years based on performance. The start date is immediately but is flexible between February 2023 and August 2023.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Hydrology, Geosciences, Water Resources, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field required by the start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in hydrologic modeling, surface water quality modeling, and remote sensing.
Skills in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, or FORTRAN).
Research skills and interests in geospatial analysis, data assimilation, and machine learning.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking ability, and experience in leading high-impact scientific publications.
