Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems is searching for a Full time Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations. EMHS vision is to be the healthcare philanthropy of choice in Maine, an advocate to promote the health and well-being of people in our region, and to support EMHS as a nationally recognized model of excellence in healthcare.
The Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations provides leadership to advance a core portfolio of strategic health system priorities. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining strong relationships with local, regional, national & international corporate and private foundations, as well as internal strategy leaders and subject matter experts. S/he works with Grants Consultants and Philanthropy leads to coordinate targeted proposals, donor requests, while growing philanthropic partnerships that benefit EMHS, our patients and the communities we serve. The Director will serve as system point of contact to cultivate, solicit and steward corporate and foundation requests to maximize social investment in mission critical charitable priorities.
The Director plans and executes a strategic and multi-faceted approach to resourcing EMHS greatest priorities. Working with leaders across the system, the Director draws upon internal strengths and resources to architect and implement a growth strategy that helps fund approved strategic priorities of EMHS and its member organizations, resulting in a significant increase of annual support.
The Director is a collaborative and energizing leader, who inspires internal and external partners to work together to embrace a shared vision and achieve shared success. S/he is nimble working across departmental silos and with staff and leaders, and is a passionate ambassador with funders and a catalyst for partnership, innovation and organizational change.
The Director is responsible for developing and overseeing a system wide event sponsorship program with expectation of building and maintaining positive, effective, and productive relationships with leadership, team members, funders and community partners. S/he regularly exercises sound judgment, diplomatic relations, effective communication and judicious use of team resources.
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years of combined corporate, foundation, development and grants experience required, preferably in healthcare. Master's degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities A highly relational leader who is a highly effective and persuasive communicator Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and foundation relations Grant and proposal writing at appropriate levels for varied proposal development Research and evaluate information about the giving programs of corporations and foundations Motivated, organized and disciplined; able to set and achieve work goals Well-developed interpersonal and networking skills Ability to maintain a high level of poise, professionalism and humor Ability to manage and complete multiple projects in a timely manner with limited supervision Demonstrated record of success in generating significant commitments from corporations and foundations Valid driver's license.
