Position Duties | The fellowship program is designed to provide emerging scholars with professional mentoring in teaching and research with guidance of established faculty. Fellows will participate in a yearlong professional development program that includes internal and external support. Fellows will teach two courses per semester and conduct research and/or creative work in their chosen field of study. These classes will include upper-level classes and an introductory-level survey of art in the candidate’s area of specialization. This specialization must be outside of the dominant western tradition. In addition to teaching and research, fellows will have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate students and participate in the life of the department and university. The Fellow will attend faculty meetings (and otherwise participate in the life of the department) and, in their last semester at Loyola, present their current research in a public talk. Funds will be provided for research or travel. Compensation: Competitive salary, research and travel money available, additional internal research funds available through application, some moving expenses can be covered. Required Qualifications | A Ph.D. in art history or a closely related field is required. Eligible candidates must have received their Ph.D. no earlier than 2019. ABDs are welcome to apply, but a completed Ph.D. is required at the start of the appointment. |
