What We Want

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for leading research projects examining molecular mechanisms underlying range expansion of a symbiotic jellyfish. The preferred candidate will have a background in evolutionary ecology, genetics, or related subfields. Expectations of this PostDoc include data collection and analysis, project management, production of high quality publications, mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students, and participation in outreach, including curriculum development for a summer field course. What You Need to Know

Salary: Salary will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate doctoral degree

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Dedication to outreach and science communication

  • Interest in understanding epigenetics mechanisms regulating gene expression in non-model invertebrates

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PhD in biology, ecology, evolution, genetics, genome science, data science, or another relevant field

  • Experience with analyzing and interpreting high efficiency sequencing data in non-model systems with a preference for knowledge of marine invertebrate genomics

  • Background in biostatistics, data analysis, and data management, particularly genomic and ecological data

  • Experience mentoring and leading diverse groups of students of various levels

Responsibilities

  • Research Experiments - Performing research experiments and analyzing results

  • Documentation/Publishing - Maintaining an accurate laboratory notebook, writing manuscripts, presenting findings, and contributing to grant proposals

  • Training - Training and mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students

  • Lab Maintenance - General lab duties associated with research projects and other duties as assigned
