Full Job Description

POSITION GOALS:
The Dean will provide vision and leadership in the division of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies; to oversee the implementation and assessment of division and institutional goals addressing student success and completion; to facilitate the evaluation of programs, faculty, administration and staff; and to initiate and manage collaborative partnerships with related transfer institutions, employers and industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
1. Provide vision, leadership and supervision to division faculty, administration and staff.
2. Implement strategies to successfully address division and institutional goals and initiatives.
3. Provide leadership in the development of new curricula and new program announcements.
4. Develop and monitor all budgets related to all division programs and initiatives.
5. Initiate grant writing to support division goals; monitor spending and reporting out of outcomes.
6. Facilitate the development and prioritization of all Perkins budget requests; monitor the assessment of Perkins programs; and ensure the completion of all reporting required for Perkins funding.
7. Monitor trends in workforce development; initiate new programs based on industry demand and recommend termination of programs no longer in demand.
8. Coordinate academic advisement for all division students.
9. Participate in all recruitment activities such as Open Houses and Information Sessions.
10. Review, approve, process and track all graduation packets.
11. Develop, monitor and track articulation agreements with colleges and universities.
12. Provide leadership in the assessment of general education; track, monitor and report on outcomes.
13. Track, monitor, evaluate and document the cyclical program review process for all division programs.
14. Review and approve all final assignments for full-time and adjunct faculty.
15. In collaboration with Academic Affairs deans, directors, faculty and staff, sustain and implement cyclical review of an Academic Master Plan.
16. In collaboration with faculty, staff and administration, develop, evaluate and revise a master schedule for all campuses and instructional sites.
17. Coordinate and supervise the hiring process for full- and part-time teachers within the division.
18. Coordinate the evaluation process for probationary instructors- documenting evaluation procedures and outcomes and recommending teachers for rehiring or non-renewal as indicated.
19. Evaluate and recommend faculty for tenure, promotion, merit, and sabbatical leave.
20. Evaluate teaching administrators and staff for merit and salary adjustment.
21. Maintain, track and review all division contracts and agreements annually; update as necessary.
22. Monitor accreditation requirements, licensure and certification outcomes and the self-study process for all accredited programs.
23. Provide divisional and institutional leadership for Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) annual institutional updates and cyclical reaccreditation.
24. Supervise the management of all division laboratories and studios; ensure equipment is serviced and in working condition; ensure a safe environment for staff and students.
25.Comply with all safety, fire, and smoking regulations.
26.Complete all mandatory compliance and safety training as scheduled by Human Resources.
27.Perform all other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned Master’s degree in Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences required. Earned doctoral degree in a related field strongly preferred.
  • At least five years teaching experience in a Liberal Arts or Professional Studies discipline.
  • Minimum of three years’ academic administrative experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting program evaluation and academic assessment.
  • Expertise in new program development preferred.
  • Experience developing and managing capital and operational budgets for programs and grants.
  • Experience with supervision of faculty and staff within a collective bargaining environment.
  • Experience with writing and monitoring state, federal or industry sponsored grants.
  • Experience fundraising and developing alternative revenue sources.
  • Experience with evaluation and management of accredited programs.
