Grant Officer
Job Description
- Establishes, develops, reviews, and evaluates the effectiveness of identifying, applying, managing, and reporting grants.
- Develops procedures and standard processes related to the various stages of grant management.
- Coordinates and works with departments and divisions to identify requirements and goals of the grant, assists in writing grant proposals, and completes application forms following the requests for applications.
- Disseminates information on funding opportunities on a regular basis to appropriate deans and directors and provide monthly summary reports to the supervisor on the status of various grants.
- Conducts research to identify external funding sources including federal and state agencies, corporations, and foundations.
- Assists in building coalitions and cooperative relationships with other colleges, community organizations, and private sector companies that enhance the competitiveness of federal grant applications.
- Assists, coordinates, and/or presents various funding opportunities to the campus community.
- Coordinates with various departments including but not limited to Fiscal Services, IT Services, Campus Development, Maintenance and Operations, Human Resources and Training, and the department lead in implementing the grant.
- Prepares relevant documents to accept the grant for the President’s Cabinet and the Board of Trustees.
- Conducts research to help identify and prioritize the District’s grant needs.
- Attend various conferences, trainings, and workshops to further enhance skills, build external connections and relationships, and enhance grant applications viability.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of the College’s students, faculty, staff, and community.
- Effectively engages and supports historically disproportionately impacted groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Grant writing and management;
- Federal and State regulations;
- Education Code of California and Title 5;
- Various office productivity tools and website management;
- U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Labor, National Science Foundation, and other federal agencies process for grant applications.
- Collaborate with deans, directors, faculty, and vice presidents to identify, prepare, apply, and implement grants;
- Communicate with faculty, staff, and students in informing various groups on potential grant opportunities including the status;
- Identify and align potential grant opportunities with the District’s mission, vision, and strategic goals;
- Identify and align potential grant opportunities to further embrace and integrate diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility in District programs, processes, and culture;
- Prepare succinct presentation materials and deliver presentations in various forums.
- Ensure effective interactions that exhibit sensitivity and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, faculty, and District visitors;
- Effectively use technology tools in enhance the management of grants;
- Effectively prioritize assignments and meet deadlines;
- Ensure the accuracy of data that is entered into appropriate databases;
- File and organize documents accurately and maintain appropriate records;
- Communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships.

At least one year of experience in grant administration and management;
AND
Commitment to community college goals/objectives of being an equity-based and anti-racist institution, and providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests;
AND
Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, gender, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the students we serve and sensitivity to and knowledge and understanding of groups historically underrepresented and groups who may have experienced discrimination.
