Post-Doctoral Fellow - (2300005N)

The University of Maryland School of Social Work is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to begin in Fall 2022. The fellowship provides an opportunity for postdoctoral scholars to advance implementation science for intervention research focused on improving behavioral health service systems treating individuals with serious mental illness and opioid use disorder. The Fellow will be provided time, space, and mentoring to develop their early career scholarship.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work primarily with Dr. Jay Unick in the School of Social Work to support implementation science components of two federally-funded research projects – an NIH R01 clinical trial testing a telemedicine intervention to improve medication adherence and clinical outcomes for SMI individuals; and a NIDA R24 building research infrastructure among OUD treatment and support service agencies. The Fellow’s specific project-related responsibilities will be developed in consultation with Dr. Unick, and may include project management, implementation design and facilitation, data management/analyses and manuscript preparation.

The postdoctoral fellowship is a two-year full-time appointment. Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

A doctoral degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field is required. Applicants must have defended their dissertation prior to beginning the fellowship, and must be within three years of completing their doctorate. Preferred candidates will have:

  • Expertise in implementation science research and/or experience working with Community Behavioral Health Agencies;
  • Previous experience with persons diagnosed with serious mental illness and/or opioid use disorder;
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills, including effective oral/written communication, as evidenced by publications or grant-writing experience;
  • Embraces and actively promotes an inclusive and equitable work environment.
  • Experience conducting mixed-methods research, including quantitative and qualitative analytical skills;
  • Proficient computer skills use statistical packages and proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases. Experience with Stata and NVivo is preferred.
