Position Description: A Postdoctoral Position is available in the laboratory of Dr. John Patton (IU Biology Dept.) (https://biology.indiana.edu/about/faculty/patton-john.html) for an individual interested in applying reverse genetics technologies to the development of next generation rotavirus vaccines. A key focus of the work will be the engineering and recovery of recombinant rotavirus vaccine candidates with increased effectiveness in inducing immunological protection to viral gastroenteritis. The project will complement and expand ongoing work investigating the genetic flexibility of the rotavirus genome, including the virus’s ability to accommodate large amounts of foreign sequence. Basic Qualifications | Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology or related area and have a publication record in quality peer-reviewed journals. The candidate is expected to have excellent written and verbal communications skills and an ability to work efficiently and independently.
