Postdoctoral Researcher in Biochemistry and Chemical Biology

Job Description

Postdoctoral Position in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Postdoctoral fellow position(s) are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Young-Hoon Ahn in the Department of Chemistry at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

About the Ahn Lab

The Ahn Lab studies redox chemistry and biology associated with protein cysteine glutathionylation in the biological models of cancers, heart diseases, and inflammation. We aim to develop and apply new chemical biology approaches for the proteomic identifications of protein glutathionylation and to uncover the regulatory function of protein glutathionylation associated with various biological models, including cancer, heart diseases, and inflammation. We utilize a variety of approaches, including chemical proteomics, protein biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, and animal models. The Ahn Lab is located in both the Chemistry and Biology Departments at Drexel University, where the candidate will be exposed to a broad range of scientific research. See more information at the Ahn lab webpage (https://chemahnlab.com )

About the Position and Quantification.

We are looking for motivated and creative postdoctoral candidates interested in uncovering fundamental chemistry and biology in redox signaling. Strong research experience (as specified below) and excellent communication skills are required.

1) Candidate will work on developing and applying chemical proteomics in cellular and animal models to study protein glutathionylation. A candidate with research experience in chemical biology, along with protein biochemistry and cell biology, is preferred. Research experience in proteomics is a plus but not required. Candidate should have Ph.D. in Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or related areas.

2) Candidate will work on studying the functional effects of protein cysteine glutathionylation associated with inflammation. A candidate with research experience in inflammation and immune cells, along with protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology, is preferred. Candidate should have Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, or related areas.

Application:

Candidates should email a cover letter, CV, a brief research summary, and email address of references to Young-Hoon Ahn, Ph.D. (ya426@drexel.edu ), Department of Chemistry, Drexel University, Philadelphia, United States.
