The Fitzgerald Institute for Real Estate (“the Institute”) at the University of Notre Dame is seeking a dedicated Career and Investment Opportunities Program Director (the “Director”). The Institute seeks to be a preeminent center for the study of real estate through research, teaching, and engagement with industry leaders in real estate investments and development, while also providing a distinctive voice in promoting human flourishing and the common good.
This is an exciting opportunity to help advance the Institute’s mission by cultivating industry relationships, building strategic partnerships, expanding career opportunities for students, and supporting related activities within the Institute.
The Director will have 3 key areas of responsibility:
(1) Industry Partnerships
- Create and leverage an infrastructure that enables both networking and employer development with the goal of accelerating the number of undergraduate students and professional students in summer internships and full-time positions.
- Provide leadership and direction to maintain exceptional relations with firms; expand the Institute’s network by building relationships with new hiring and managing partners.
- Interact and coordinate with top-level University stakeholders to leverage support and resources for real estate-focused programs, activities, and jobs.
- Network and provide assistance for employers during campus visits, information sessions, and other special events.
(2) Career Opportunities
- Lead a comprehensive career discernment, exploration, and job placement program to facilitate the Institute’s goals and objectives for internships, full-time positions, and career development.
- Create, manage, and oversee all procedures, processes, and infrastructure and work closely with on-campus partners including the Career Center to support student hiring in real estate.
- Analyze the commercial real estate recruiting process;identify opportunities and implement best-in-class recruiting processes benefiting students in real estate. Benchmark competing programs to influence the Institute’s outcomes and activities.
(3) Investment Opportunities, Programs, and Initiatives
- Develop investment opportunities, programming, and initiatives for all students, but especially students within Finance and the Mendoza College of Business and others interested in investments.
- Create and deliver workshops, presentations, and co-curricular materials to Notre Dame students on the following topics: careers in real estate; internship opportunities; full-time job opportunities; emerging career fields and industries; opportunities for women in real estate; and insights for preparing for the competitive application process.
- Communicate the program’s efforts through social media and website content, the promotion of Institute-related events, and the development of related materials.
- Evaluate and recommend changes to courses, experiential learning, conferences, events, and mentorship activities when needed to advance job placement.
**This is a 3 year limited term position with the possibility of renewal.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 to 4 years of relevant work experience
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in building relationships
- Ability to think organizationally, conceptually, and strategically
- Ability to manage projects and relationships simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines
- Ability to collaborate, influence, and command the respect and confidence of industry stakeholders
- Understanding and support of Notre Dame’s mission

- Established network of professional contacts in real estate and/or investments
- Knowledge of career paths in real estate and/or investments
