Summary

The Department of Psychiatry, University of Michigan Medical School and the Ann Arbor VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System is recruiting for an instructional, tenure-track faculty position. Individuals are sought with specific strengths in research and clinical activities in the area of Addiction. The Department of Psychiatry and affiliated institutes at the University of Michigan provide state-of-the-art clinical and research facilities have strong traditions in clinical mental health services research. The candidate will work with relevant research programs in the Department of Psychiatry and institutes at the University of Michigan which provides state-of-the-art clinical and research facilities with strong traditions in clinical mental health services research and the affiliated VA Healthcare System. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and academic rank.  Experience in submitting research grant applications is expected of candidates.  The ideal candidate will also have a substantial health services research portfolio and evidence of an ability to garner independent research funding.

Responsibilities*

The successful candidate will be responsible for research and clinical activities in the area of Addiction. The selected candidate will be expected to lead health services research projects, with a focus on prevention and treatment of substance use disorders. The position includes teaching and supervision in the Department of Psychiatry’s education programs including psychiatric residency and fellowship programs.  

Required Qualifications*

The applicant for this position should have a solid research background and training in addictions psychiatry. Applicants must hold PhD/Psy.D. or equivalent .  
The applicant should have experience with addiction research, based on a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals as a primary or senior author, with potential to submit a career development application to the VHA or NIH.    


They will also be responsible for providing clinical services as an addictions psychologist, and for education and training in clinical and research settings.    
The ideal candidate will have a particular research and clinical interest in pharmacologic treatments for addiction, opioid use and pain, and improving access to traditional addictions treatment settings. 

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening, fingerprinting and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
