MINIMUM PAY RATE: $66,897 annually

POSITION SUMMARY
This position serves as the program manager to the Executive Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Compliance by overseeing and leading functions, assignments, and projects that support successful operation of the Office of Diversity and influence achievement of the mission and strategic goals of the College. Duties include but are not limited to working with the Executive Director to develop diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, leading assigned compliance and accountability initiatives across the institution, and participating in committee work and special assignments on behalf of the Executive Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Compliance in support of faculty, staff and students. This position also serves as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer. The incumbent must be capable of adapting and operating within the College’s institutional vision, strategies, and direction.
Works independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. Demonstrates commitment to continuous quality improvement and to providing outstanding service to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and maintaining an overall standard of excellence for the staff in the Office of DEIC.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support the Executive Director and manage the annual DEI calendar, including providing logistical planning, coordination and support for institutional DEI events and initiatives and stakeholder meetings and agendas.
2. Provide counsel and support to the Executive Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Compliance, to ensure that the College’s diversity, equity and inclusion goals, objectives, and performance outcomes are effectively communicated to external and internal audiences.
3. Monitor the progress of DEI training to ensure successful implementation in accordance with DEI education requirements established by JJC.
4. Lead the annual update and implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan annually.
5. Participate in the establishment and implementation of organizational initiatives, objectives, strategies, and best practices for the advancement of equity and inclusion.
6. Collaborate with Marketing to regularly communicate and market internal and external diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, events and programming.
7. Research best practices, leverage corporate demographic data and survey results to identify equity gaps, inform programs and adjustments to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan.
8. Collaborate with campus departments, including Human Resources, Center of Multicultural Access and Success, Disability Services, Student Mental Health and Wellness, Faculty, Marketing and other key stakeholders to lead, development and deployment of DEI strategies.
9. Review, research, and summarize a variety of administrative information and data, and prepare internal reports and PowerPoint Presentations.
10. Drive education and awareness by facilitating DEI training and workshops.
11. Assist with coordination of the President’s Diversity and Inclusion Council strategic planning and initiatives, council development, and campus/community communication.
12. Serve as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer and oversee responses to FOIA request for the institution through the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Compliance.
13. Collaborate and build strong working relationships with senior managers to develop and implement cross-functional strategies supporting the college’s long-term vision.
14. Independently compose correspondence on a wide variety of matters, including material of a confidential nature.
15. Prepare policy and work plan guidance and support the committees, affinity groups programs, and other services to advance DEI initiatives and goals.
16. Oversee and support student worker(s) with departmental initiatives and needs. Foster, develop and maintain relationships with external organizations and network with DEI practitioners from other community colleges throughout Illinois.
17. Collaborate with various departments across the campus to enhance inclusivity among various positions, classifications and shifts.
18. Create and maintain social media for the office of Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Compliance.
19. Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information relative to compliance of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Elections, etc.
20. Perform related duties as assigned.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree.
2. Three (3) years of experience in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion or program management.
3. Ability to communicate a strategic agenda to internal or external stakeholders.
4. Strong organizational and project management skills.
5. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to and communicate complex information in an approachable manner.
6. Demonstrated use of technology and Microsoft Office software.
7. Proven ability to handle complex and sensitive functions with discretion and confidentiality.
8. Strong analytic and critical thinking skills with a metrics-driven approach to solutions and the ability to leverage analytics and insights to create compelling narratives for change.
9. Other duties as assigned.
10. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s Degree.
2. Experience with developing and delivering diversity, equity and inclusion training.
3. Experience working with corporate, non-profit, or educational leadership.
4. Experience developing communications for Board of Trustees/Directors.
5. Supervisory experience.
6. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
7. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Normal office physical demands.
2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
3. Ability to travel in state and nationally.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual office and/or outdoor environment.
