The financial aid advisor works closely with students to ensure accurate and expeditious processing of their financial aid applications. In addition, the Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for the advisement of students and parents about ways pay for college. The Advisor responds to outreach requests of the Admissions Office and area constituents and conducts weekly financial aid and financial education workshops. In this role, the monitoring of customer service efforts on the part the Aid office is essential. The Advisor is also responsible for the processing of the Department of Education’s Return to Title IV worksheet calculations and subsequent award adjustments. The Financial Aid Advisor serves as a part of the team that supports students toward success. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.1. Stays well versed in federal and state regulations and laws overseeing financial aid.2. Responsible for the processing of the Department of Education’s Return to Title IV worksheet calculations and subsequent award adjustments 3. Assists with ensuring the accuracy of the Financial Aid website and other social media such as: Facebook and Twitter.4. Assists the department in ensuring student’s records are accurate and up-to date, managing daily reports and responsibilities 5. Guides and counsels students and parents in the FA process in reference to eligibility, application procedures, college costs, indebtedness, default prevention and financial planning.6. Resolves student issues and concerns and determines course of action Financial Aid Advisor . In an advisement capacity, assists with verification issues and award adjustments, as needed 8. Coordinates outreach activities to various on and off campus constituencies: i.e. high schools, community centers.9. Represents the department and the institution at outreach activities and programs, and advances the department’s mission to provide quality service to students and families.10. Assists with special Admissions and Financial Aid projects as needed.11. Review, verify, and process applications and supporting documents in accordance with established guidelines to determine financial aid eligibility 12. Reply to student inquiries via web and general correspondence and office calls and visits.13. Responsible for student files review, need analysis, pre-verification, awarding and adjusting of aid through manual and automatic packaging method.14. Responsible for the accurate reporting of federal and state programs as assigned by the director.15. Responsible for awarding CCOG and TAG which includes reviewing each student and their eligibility.16. Maintains familiarity with financial aid guidelines as well as college policies and services.17. Responsible for generating and sending financial aid change letters, and other financial aid routine correspondence 18. Assist other office personnel with special assignments or substitutes for absent personnel when appropriate.19. Assists Special Circumstance/ FA Advisor with dependency overrides and special circumstance cases.20. Assists in completing various financial aid reports if necessary.21. Serves as a Liaison with EOF department for financial aid inquiries and issues22. Communicate with EOF students about financial aid programs and assist them in satisfying federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures Financial Aid Advisor  Builds and coordinates relationships with EOF staff for the purpose of building the Colleges brand with targeted communities, especially first-generation low-income students24. Assists with recruitment events such as school visits and Financial Aid completion events both on and off-campus25. Provide comprehensive group and one-on-one financial aid to current and prospective EOF participants26. Fosters a working relationship with local high schools guidance counselors and establishing a relationship between the Financial Aid Office/ Mercer County Community College and high school shareholders.27. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

 

 

Bachelor's degree required. Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
