Neurotrauma Position

Job Description


A postdoctoral position is available in the NIH funded laboratory of Douglas H. Smith, M.D. in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

The main focus of the lab is investigating the mechanisms driving both acute and chronic outcomes following traumatic brain injury. We employ a range of models and techniques including: an in vitro injury model, small and large translational animal TBI models, and post-mortem human tissue.


Qualifications:

The preferred applicant will have experience in some of the following techniques: immunofluorescence, histopathology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. They will also have a strong publication record and understanding of research methodology. Excellent writing and interpersonal skills are desirable. Applicants should have a broad neuroscience background as well as an interest in neurotrauma, including mechanisms of axonal injury and neurodegeneration. A Ph.D, M.D., or equivalent degree is required.
