Associate Counselor - English/Spanish

Job Description


Provides professional behavioral and psychological interventions and assessment techniques for health disparities research clinical protocols. Responsible for activities related to interventions and for completion of other tasks and activities associated with the work of faculty/postdoctoral fellows. Impacts health disparities research or clinical protocols.

The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English/Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking)

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Strategic Planning, Development, and Implementation Researches information related to specific underserved population that is being studied in order to become familiar with and be able to tailor treatment to targeted population. This may include reading journal articles, books, and/or attending training and other activities that will help the counselor be more knowledgeable in about the population. Identifies the needs of underserved populations being studied, and helps the team identify ways to modify treatment or help solve any barriers that participants may face that are study related. Developments and delivers psychological or behavioral interventions and accompanying materials for appropriate psychological/behavioral interventions, which target underserved populations. Participates in the identification, preparation, and implementation of appropriate data collection instruments and questionnaire testing procedures. Participates in monitoring research or clinical protocol adherence and strategic planning for various health disparities clinical protocols. Participates in the development and revision of counseling manuals and materials. Provides on call crisis management.

Data Entry and Management Records and keeps record of all counseling sessions completed. Responsible for entering relevant data into study database. Complies with regulatory and institutional policies, procedures and guidelines.

Counseling and Motivational Interviewing Provides virtual counseling for underserved populations using a motivational interviewing and/or cognitive behavioral therapy approach; according to relevant research protocols.

Other Duties Occasionally participates in revising and/or translating study materials. Learning new software as required. And other duties assigned.

EDUCATION:
Required: Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or related degree.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: None.

Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish (reading, writing and speaking).
