Department Summary
The Center for Human Identification (CHI) is an accredited forensic laboratory on the campus of The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. With funding from the State of Texas and various Federal Government agencies, CHI supports forensic DNA testing, anthropological examinations, local CODIS operations, training, and various research and development initiatives. CHI also manages the Texas Missing Persons DNA Database.
Position Overview
The Postdoctoral Research Associate’s duties are related to research activities utilizing an advanced level of knowledge within their perspective field. They will also contribute to writingproposals and papers, while helping to maintain laboratory equipment, and may contribute to the training and supervision of students or any other assigned individuals.

Minimum Qualifications
Appropriate doctoral degree. If the degree had not been conferred at the time applicant applied for a postdoc position, a letter needs to be attached from the school’s official Graduate Office and/or Registrar’s Office certifying that all requirements for the degree have been met and stating the degree conferral date.

Knowledge of mixture interpretation
Knowledge of probabilistic genotyping

Job Duties


o
Execute experiments independently, collect data and take good notes of experiments, and keep up-to-date with the most recent literature in the field of study.
o
Write manuscripts and prepare materials for scientific presentations.
o
Perform technical procedures involved in execution of own experiments (i.e. Analyze experimental results of experimental protocols).
o
Presentation of project results to internal and external parties.
o
Operates specialized scientific equipment.
o
Performs statistical analyses, including selecting the appropriate analysis procedure, setting up data for analysis, judging validity and reliability ofdata, designing and writing programs to perform analyses, and producing written reports on the result of the analyses.
o
Write research results for publication (i.e. Clearly summarize data for analysis, prepare needed figures for publication and participate in preparing revisions of manuscripts).
o
Provide knowledge and help with experiments as requested by graduate students.
o
Assist PI with active federally-funded study.
