Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Perennial Grass Genetics and Breeding program in the Department of Horticulture at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral research associate position to identify and develop cool-season grasses as perennial groundcover for crop production. The successful candidate will work closely with a large multidisciplinary team including crop physiologists and plant breeders (project website: https://www.regenpgc.org/). The successful candidate will help supervise graduate and undergraduate students.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in plant breeding or related discipline


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability in conducting and completing research projects, as evidenced by a good publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated competency in conducting field studies with experience in experimental design and data analysis using statistical tools.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and experience in making scientific presentations in English.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
