Job Description

The University of Notre Dame Enterprises and Events (UEE) division is currently hiring for the position of Strategic Staffing, Associate Director within the department of Employee Engagement. The UEE division leads the University’s event management, hospitality, and customer service functions while supporting student life, academic endeavors, and research initiatives. UEE is responsible for the planning and execution of a wide range of University events from Commencement to concerts and special events on football game weekends. The division is a major contributor of revenue to the University’s mission and employs the largest number of staff on campus with over 1,200 full-time, part-time, temporary, and on-call staff.

Why this position?
Reporting to the Director of UEE Employee Engagement, the Strategic Staffing, Associate Director has the primary responsibility for University Enterprises and Events (UEE) of overseeing staffing, recruitment, position management and retention of employees for UEE. In this role you will use your passion for data and staffing to deliver actionable, business-driven insights that inform strategic hiring decisions, improve organizational effectiveness and drive a positive experience for both hiring managers and candidates. Our managers will count on you to provide hiring and retention insights into their units. You will partner with ND Human Resources and our UEE managers to develop hiring strategies that maximize resources and strategically help our units source the most appropriate talent for their needs.

Position Highlights and Main Responsibilities

  • You will utilize your leadership and coaching skills to oversee and develop a talent specialist team that recruits and identifies talent (including students) throughout the many departments of UEE and creates a strategy for employee retention.

  • You will use your knowledge and experience in process improvement to oversee our position management process. Providing oversight for Position Description creation and management, posting positions, and identifying process improvement opportunities to gain efficiencies across the division.

  • As a member of the Employee Engagement management team, we will look to you to lead the staffing effort in our division. We want someone who can proactively anticipate the needs of our units, aggressively and strategically staff them and most importantly be an ambassador for our three north stars, global service standards and commitments to a diverse and inclusive culture that are the foundation of our division and business.

  • This position will enhance and streamline the position management, hiring, and recruitment process for UEE colleagues to deepen a culture reflective of the Notre Dame and UEE values, ultimately providing opportunities for all members of the UEE family to be the best version of themselves and maximize contributions to our important and shared mission.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience Required include:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 7 years of professional work experience with at least 3 years experience in a talent acquisition or talent strategy role.
  • Candidates must have prior experience with process improvement that provided impactful changes.
  • Prior examples of using data to drive decision making.

Skills required include:
  • Passion for talent acquisition and delivering exceptional hiring manager and candidate experiences
  • Strong understanding of HR data and HR employee lifecycle processes
  • Must have analytical skills and the ability to leverage multiple sources to enable data-driven insights and inform strategic talent decisions.
  • Leadership skills including coaching, mentoring, critical thinking and adaptability
  • A great communicator and presenter who can develop relationships with prospective candidates and within all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Expert knowledge of an applicant tracking system
Prior experience in hospitality, food service or other high-volume recruiting industry
