Rutgers Global serves as a gateway to leveraging programs in the international and global arenas across the university and ensuring that they are delivered at the highest level of excellence. Rutgers Global is comprised of the following units: Study Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services, Global Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives, and the Office of Vice President. Rutgers Global initiates new programs, strategic partnerships and services, and builds on the substantial scholarly resources already invested in the international programs at Rutgers to create a new focus for sharing resources, ideas, and research opportunities.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director of Global Analytics and Initiatives for Rutgers Global. The Director of Global Analytics and Initiatives reports to the Assistant Vice President for Global Affairs. The Incumbent will be responsible for 1) building and overseeing database systems, data analytics strategies, and measurement frameworks for strategic priorities for Rutgers Global; 2) providing strategic intelligence and information to advise the leadership of Rutgers Global and university senior administrative and academic leadership of latest challenges and opportunities in global education and partnerships; and 3) designing and managing strategic global initiatives with high impact.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Primarily responsible for leading growing efforts to build the data system and analytics strategy at Rutgers Global.
  • Builds roadmaps from strategic questions to data conceptualization, delivery on data and analytics work, and to data visualization using modern data platforms and analytical software and techniques.
  • Works with data teams within Rutgers Global (ISSS, RGSA, DAG, etc.) along with several data contacts at Rutgers to ensure that relevant data are collected, managed, and analyzed appropriately within the global mission and vision of the university.
  • Helps navigate and address challenges in initiating and growing global business opportunities and initiatives and contribute to global business development initiatives in driving revenue growth and opportunities in select geographic areas.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a fully remote work arrangement.
The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in education, technical, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience in international/global programming or related area.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in global programming, data analytics, and data visualization for a complex organization.
  • Proficiency in at least two to three major data analytics platforms such as Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI. Some working knowledge of SEVIS RTI, batch processing, and compliance software (SUNAPSIS, Ellucian, Terra Dotta, etc.)
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage complex multi-task projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare presentations for senior leadership to clearly articulate results of data analysis through strategic storytelling.
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the goals and values of international education.
  • Administrative experience working in higher education and/or an office involved in international programs.
  • Ability to work independently using discretion and knowledge of confidentiality laws.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively with diverse groups and constituencies (faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students, university administrators and the general public).
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse community.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership in successfully identifying and implementing technology solutions in a global programming/initiative at a higher education institution in the past three to five years.
  • Demonstrated skills and expertise in the application of data analytics to decision making.
  • Experience living, studying, or working outside the United States.
  • Knowledge of one or more languages other than English preferred, as well as experience working, living, and/or studying abroad strongly preferred.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience.
  • This position requires the ability to lead a data and analytics team in real business applications; the individual will be a critical bridge between data and analytics development and business partners to help optimize business performance.
  • This position is expected to provide strategic analytical input using new data assets and tools to improve, and transform as needed, existing business processes, customer experience, and business results.

Immunization Requirements
