Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Administrative Coordinator will serve as a member of the Dean’s Office administrative team and will provide high-level support for the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Research. Main duties include coordinating the materials and committees for promotion and tenure reviews of faculty in the college, scheduling meetings, correspondence with faculty and staff, records management, and providing direct support to the associate dean for faculty affairs and research. The coordinator also manages periodic reviews of the academic units and unit heads and helps schedule search committees and candidates for searches of academic chairs and directors. In addition, the coordinator also manages the Maryland Center for Humanities Research communications as well as the College’s research promotion and advancement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Experience:
Minimum five years of experience in administrative support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate by phone, video, electronic media, and written correspondence in a clear and professional manner.
  • Well-organized with the ability to effectively manage substantial amounts of correspondence, documents, and information as well as conflicting priorities.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with people at all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and cloud-based collaborative file sharing products.
  • Creation, maintenance, manipulation, data analysis, and visualization Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and skills with similar productivity tools is required.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Experience at a higher education institution.
  • An interest in the arts and humanities.
  • Knowledge of and experience with UMD IT systems.
  • Experience in the support of faculty administrative processes including tenure and promotion reviews.

Additional Information:

Salary: Mid-high $60s commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No visa sponsorship is offered for this position.
