Postdoctoral Fellow - Cellular Immunology Research

Posted Date:
Wednesday, January 18, 2023
Department:
Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics
Position Description:

Dr. Na Xiong’s laboratory located in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio) is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a post-doctoral position working in the field of cellular immunology. The postdoc will study molecular mechanisms regulating establishment and activation of tissue-resident innate lymphoid cells and T cells in skin homeostasis and inflammation using mouse models and clinical samples. The research in the Xiong lab focuses on development and function of tissue-resident lymphocytes in barrier tissues. Particularly, the lab studies roles of chemokines and other tissue-derived factors in regulation of migration and function of skin-resident lymphocytes [ Reference #1) Yang, et al. Selective programming of CCR10+ innate lymphoid cells in skin-draining lymph nodes for cutaneous homeostatic regulation. 2016. Nature Immunology 17(1):48-56. 5. #2) Li, et al. Psoriasis-associated impairment of CCL27/CCR10-derived regulation leads to IL-17A/IL-22-producing skin T cell over-activation. J Allergy Clin Immunol. 2021 Feb;147(2):759-763.e9. #3) Xu, et al. UT Health San Antonio is a highly integrated and translational research community, which also includes the Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC), a NCI Designated Cancer Center, the Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science (IIMS) funded by a NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), the South Texas Research Facility (STRF), the Texas Biomedical Research Institute (TBRI), the Greehey Children Cancer Research Center Institute (GCCRI), the Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, in addition to multiple hospitals, including the University Hospital and the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital. San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the U.S. with a beautiful historical downtown area. UT Health San Antonio is located at the gateway to the scenic Texas Hill Country, with many recreational options, a low cost of living, and an excellent public school system.

Successful applicants will work on the cutting edge of cellular immunology research and will play a key role in making exciting discoveries and publishing novel manuscripts in high impact journals.

Position Requirements:

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with background in immunology, cellular and molecular biology, or related areas. Prior experience in analysis of immune cells and responses in animal models using flow cytometry, microscopic imaging and molecular biological techniques is desired.
