Location: Denver, CO - Remote

The American Indian College Fund (College Fund) strives to positively impact the lives of Native Americans by supporting their higher education and career objectives. The_ Research and Evaluation Associate _will play an important supporting role the College Fund’s research, evaluation, and learning initiatives. This individual will assist with scholarly research to help the College Fund generate and publish critical research findings that continue to establish it as a leading voice on Native American experiences in higher education. This individual will also assist with impact evaluation to help ensure that the College Fund has clear data and evidence to guide its decisions about how to design future programming, when to adapt its approach, and how to better serve and empower Native students and tribal colleges. This position will have a strong emphasis on participatory survey design, survey administration, and survey analysis as well as on student outcomes research and evaluation.

  • Support and manage evaluation and learning projects at the program and organizational level - (40%)
  • Support and conduct scholarly research on Native American experiences in higher education - (40%)
  • Conduct research, analyze complex data, and produce actionable insights to meet organizational needs - (20%)

Competencies

  • Knowledge of social science research and evaluation methods and approaches
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in survey design, management, and analysis
  • Experience supporting or contributing to scholarly research and program evaluations in an applied context
  • Skills and experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methods including conducting inferential statistics.
  • Experience and interest in implementing research and evaluation projects in ways that reflect a nuanced understanding of rigor and evidence that prioritizes multi-cultural validity and multiple ways of knowing.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting evaluation and research projects that are highly participatory and emphasize engaging partners in evaluation design, data collection methods, and data analysis and reporting
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience collaborating on research and evaluation projects with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with technical report writing and presenting actionable insights (presenting findings, implications, and recommendations) to diverse audiences
  • Ability to create, manage, and analyze large and complex datasets with a strong eye for detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office - including Excel, Outlook, Access - and in citation management software like EndNote
  • Proficiency in Survey Monkey as well as in data analysis software packages and programming languages like SPSS, R, NVivo, Python
  • Ability to contribute to data visualization and dashboarding of key findings
  • Experience disseminating research and evaluation findings in professional settings (conferences, with stakeholders, with College Fund staff, website, social media, journal publications)
  • Ability to work with internal database manager to generate the data necessary to inform program learning and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive evaluation (CRE) practices
  • Demonstrated success meeting deadlines while working on a variety of job assignments simultaneously

Education/ Experience

  • Master’s degree in a relevant social science field with excellent applied research and evaluation skills
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience conducting social science research and evaluation
  • Experience using Survey Monkey for survey design, data collection, and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience with Indigenous research and evaluation methodologies
  • Experience with empowerment evaluation and participatory evaluation frameworks, especially in the context of survey design
  • Experience co-designing and implementing research and evaluation projects with diverse communities, including surveys.
  • Experience with monitoring, evaluation, and learning projects in the non-profit sector
  • Demonstrated aptitude for presenting data findings and learnings in meaningful ways
