Job Description

Job Description: The Instructor is responsible for planning, preparation, and execution of classroom and/or laboratory experiences which result in learning. Instructors develop, evaluate, and revise the curriculum incorporating evidence-based learning activities directed at meeting established student learning outcomes. Instructors monitor and evaluate student performance based on established grading guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a one-year grant funded position and is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. 

Functions:

  1. Contributes to the overall achievement of the college’s mission and goals through effective instruction and classroom management.
  2. Explains complex concepts in a manner where students can grasp meaning and understanding during theory and clinical.
  3. Plans and prepares for assigned instructional courses.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy.
  5. Develops instructional outcomes and appropriate evaluation and assessment methods of learning.
  6. Creates and maintains an environment of rapport and respect.
  7. Clearly establishes expectations for learning and achievement.
  8. Maintains up to date accurate records on attendance and student progress.
  9. Engages in academic counseling and advisement.
  10. Meets with current and prospective students for review and accurate interpretation of college placement scores.
  11. Provides guidance to students for academic planning.
  12. Makes referrals to college resources available to provide services or assistance to the student.
  13. Engages in the college community for intraprofessional networking and professional development. Provides input into budgeting and decision-making processes.
  14. Keeps abreast of developments in the field of expertise basing current instructional practice on recent evidence.
  15. Communicates learning expectation and varies teaching techniques and incorporates current technology.
  16. Structure’s classroom activities and assignments based on learning outcomes.
  17. Provides student both written and oral feedback.
  18. Engages in self-assessment of teaching practices and professional development needs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

  1. Thorough knowledge in the field of expertise and teaching techniques.  
  2. Ability to develop lesson plans and design learning activities aimed at achieving student learning outcomes.
  3. Communicates learning expectations through the provision of structured activities and assignments.
  4. Ability to instruct, engage students, and assess student learning. 
  5. Familiarity with college resources available to provide instruction and services or assistance to the student including instructional technology.  
  6. Ability to provide guidance to students for academic planning.
  7. Knowledge of placement policies when interpreting placement scores and advising students.  
  8. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Arkansas State Board of Nursing unencumbered Licensure as a registered nurse
  • Masters’ degree in Nursing required or enrolled in a Masters’ degree Nursing program to complete program of study within one year of application
  • Recent theory and clinical experience and/or specialty in medical/surgical, maternal child, pediatrics, and critical care nursing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in Nursing with Certified Nurse Educator credential and clinical specialty in medical/surgical, peds, OB, or critical care nursing.
  • Experience teaching with simulation. 
  • Recent teaching experience at an ACEN or other accredited registered nursing program.

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
