We have an opening for a AVP, Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness at our Southwest Tennessee-Macon Cove campus!

 

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer/Chief of Staff, the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness, directs and coordinates college planning, assessment, and continuous improvement activities, provides input based on data and evidence to support policy development and implementation. The Assistant Vice President is also responsible for developing an office and data management infrastructure that is able to create the timely reporting, analysis, and assessment of institutional and programmatic outcomes essential to the College. The Associate Vice President has the responsibility to oversee institutional research and reporting and will work collaboratively with the Chief Strategy Officer/Chief of Staff in the development and execution of key institutional research and effectiveness functions, including strategic planning, research, reporting and support of College and senior leadership initiatives. This position will also be expected to actively promote an organizational culture of evidence that values and utilizes data when making decisions. Collaborates and communicates regularly with the President, Chief Strategy Officer/Chief of Staff, AVPS, Deans, Executive Directors, Research & Data Visualization Analyst and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Liaison. This leadership position supports the College by overseeing the development of Data Warehouse construction, data governance structures, relationships between key databases, institution-wide reports and dashboards for senior leadership and other College stakeholders. The Associate Vice President will also assist in managing required and essential data for all accreditation agencies as well as compliance data. The position also will be responsible for identifying data, technical support, and professional development needs and coordinate appropriate support and training to improve access to data across the College. Interacts with Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and other state and national officials/agencies such as Achieving the Dream, Inc.



This role will be responsible for the following:

 

Essential Job Functions:

Essential Planning & Assessment Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage workflow with the Research & Data Visualization Analyst, the and other IR/IE/Planning team members.
  • With team collaboration, ensure the validation of all data as one source of truth; critical implementation of Data Warehouse according to a strategic timeline is expected.
  • Work with Chief Strategy Officer/Chief of Staff and office team to develop and implement strategies and plans to assess and continuously improve the overall quality and effectiveness of campus programs and services in accordance with the vision, mission, goals, and strategic priorities of the institution.
  • Documents the progress towards institutional and departmental goals.
  • Ensures that compliance with SACSCOC accreditation requirements is incorporated into the planning and evaluation process of the College.
  • Initiates, coordinates and maintains the accountability for academic assessment and college-wide assessment activities directly related to institutional effectiveness.
  • Facilitates the development of a culture of evidence within the institution and supports the development and assessment of college-wide institutional goals, student learning outcomes and administrative/educational support outcomes.
  • Coordinates faculty, staff, student, and related committees and task groups in the development and pursuit of academic assessment activities, and in using assessment results for the improvement of student retention; student persistence in achievement of student goals; and improvement of degree programs, general education, developmental studies, and other aspects of the college’s curriculum.
  • Anticipates and creates data for institutional planning for budgeting, faculty productivity, regional demographics, strategic planning and initiatives, and other institutional needs.
  • Directs and administers STCC’s Academic Program Review process in cooperation with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and other academic leaders and CSO/CoS.
  • Oversee the structure, maintenance, and distribution of the college fact book of institutional indicators and standard reports.

Essential Research Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and assists with cooperative planning, research, and evaluation activities within the College, and between the College and TBR.
  • Oversight for administration of STCC Factbook, Community College Survey of Engagement (CCSSE), Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE), Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), Postsecondary Data Partnership (PDP), etc.
  • Coordinates and assists with the development and maintenance of information systems related to assessment efforts.
  • Recommends changes in policies and operational procedures based on evidence and recommends strategies for the continued positive development of the College.
  • Coordinates and assists with the preparation and dissemination of reports, research briefs, newsletters, and other communications.
  • Recommends and coordinates research projects and/or studies of College programs, services, and activities including, but not limited to, student services, instructional evaluation, student success efforts, instructional costs, faculty data, management policies, student learning outcomes, administrative/educational support outcomes, and program planning and review.
  • Establishes and maintains the central repository of statistical reports, and serves as a technical consultant to the faculty and staff in research activities related to their various functions or programs.
  • Serves as a point for referral of requests from administrative and instructional faculty or from outside the college, for research data, e.g., questionnaires from educational and governmental agencies. Prepares reports as required by TBR and other agencies, to include facilities space utilization reports.
  • Responsibility for validating data of primary data sources: In-house student success dashboards, Title III dashboards, ARGOS, Postsecondary Data Partnership (PDP), Navigate, Banner (SIS), DegreeWorks, and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Researches, collects, develops and provides data to assist in determining the educational needs of the Shelby County region and surrounding areas, and assists appropriate staff in transforming those needs into viable educational programs and services.

Essential Accreditation Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the preparation of the annual profiles and any other reports requested by SACSCOC.
  • Ensures that electronic institutional data submitted to SACSCOC is accurate and timely.
  • Maintains documentation files and systems of all accreditation materials for SACSCOC, such as, reports related to the decennial review; accreditation committee reports; accreditation manuals, standards, and policies; schedules of all visits; and correspondence from accrediting offices.
  • Familiarizes faculty, staff, and students with the Commission’s accrediting policies and procedures, and with particular sections of the accrediting standards and Commission policies that have application to certain aspects of the campus (e.g., library, continuing education) especially when such documents are adopted or revised.
  • Serves as a contact person for Commission staff.
  • Serves as a resource person during the decennial review process and helps prepare for and coordinate reaffirmation and other accrediting visits.
  • Coordinates the collection and notification of substantive changes and program developments in accord with the substantive change policies of the Commission.
  • Executes other duties as assigned by the Chief Strategy Officer/Chief of Staff.

Position Requirements:


Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in a related field preferred.
  • Master’s degree in related field plus 5 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education required.
  • Effective knowledge of Foundation, Grants, Advancement, & Resource Development.
  • Strategic Leadership experience with community partners on the local, regional, state and national level.
  • Experience with Banner, Banner Self Service, Raiser’s Edge, and other Advancement & Student Success technologies a plus.
The Salary Range for the position is: Commensurate with the College’s pay scale
