Responsible for leading and administering the instructional and support service programs of the Division.

Plans, organizes and administers the educational offerings of the division.

Establishes procedures consistent with College policy for the effective operation of the functional areas of the Division.

Provides for an effective two-way channel of communication between the administration and teaching faculty to ensure the integrity of the educational program.

Provides leadership in all aspects of the college mission including the development of new programs and courses, developing a course schedule, assessing student learning and supporting teaching and learning strategies within the Division

Supports a variety of scheduling and learning modalities such as online, blended, fast-track, apprenticeships, etc.

Demonstrates leadership in the core values of respect, integrity, collaboration and excellence within the Division and across the College.

Contributes to the success of the College’s Strategic Plan

Appreciates and supports diversity of faculty, staff and students.

Fiscal:

Develops and recommends a revenue and operating budget for the Child Learning Centers within the auxiliary fun

Develops and recommends an operating budget for the division and assumes responsibility for the management of the adopted budget for the current fiscal year.

Allocates resources and implements procedures for the request, purchase and maintenance of instructional equipment and supplies, and maintains accurate inventory control.

Pursues appropriate grant opportunities for programs and facilities within the division.

Staff:

Provides leadership to the division faculty and staff to ensure quality academic programs and student success.

Assumes responsibility for all educational programs within the division.

Assumes responsibility for supervising and evaluating instruction of all courses within the division.

Schedules and conducts regular meetings of the division and maintains a close working relationship with department chairs and coordinators.

Evaluates the faculty and staff within the division; makes recommendations for retention, promotion and/or tenure appointments; and provides support for staff development activities.

Assumes primary responsibility for recruitment of faculty and staff within the division, serves on all divisional search committees, and makes recommendations to the Provost.

Coordinates the orientation of all new full and part-time faculty to the responsibilities of their positions and assists in appropriate training.

Supervises the division office staff and maintains adequate records and office equipment for the division. Ensures sufficient staff support to faculty members within the division.

Curriculum and Program Development/Course Offerings:

Stimulates the development of new and changes to current courses and programs in the Division to meet the changing needs of the District as is appropriate for the first two-years of college and is commensurate with the Illinois Articulation Initiative.

Develops and recommends class schedules, assigns full- and part-time faculty, and oversees appropriate room assignments.

Creates and supports innovative course schedules and delivery methods to meet the needs of students and industry.

Provides support for departmental accreditation reports and effective compliance with external accreditation requirements as applicable.

Ensures that each department prepares a Program Review as prescribed by the college and the Illinois Community College Board.

Facilitates the articulation of programs and courses with secondary and postsecondary institutions and serves as conduit for submission of courses to appropriate IAI panels.

Assures that all classes are met as scheduled, or that suitable arrangements for substitute teachers are made.

Understands instructional technology and encourages innovative instructional strategies.

Coordinates and recommends the effective marketing of educational programs within the division.

Ensures career advisory committees are active and productive.

Community Service:

Serves as an agent of the College within the community as related to the disciplines of the Division.

Promotes the visibility of the division within the College and within the larger Harper community.

Professional Development:

Is committed to regular professional development to acquire new skills and knowledge to promote effective academic leadership for the Division and the College

Educational Requirements: Masters’ Degree in Higher Education/Community College Administration or a discipline represented in the Division is required. Doctorate preferred.

Experience Requirements: Significant and successful collegiate-level teaching. Progressively more responsible experience in an administrative capacity within an academic environment or appropriate institutional setting.
