PAY - $87,500 LOCATION - Ontario, Oregon
JOB TYPE – Full-time DEPARTMENT – CTE

This position is responsible for providing leadership to and support of Career, Technical, and
Professional Education programs, which includes, but is not limited to, Agriculture, Aviation,
Equine Science/Horse Production, Industrial Education, Natural Resources, and other TVCC
programs. The Dean may be assigned oversight and/or management of grants (e.g., Carl
Perkins, US Department of Agriculture, US Department of Labor, SBDC, STEP, Career
Pathways, etc.), or other credit of non-credit instructional programs or services (e.g.,
Workforce Training, Community Education, Small Business Development Center, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS
MANDATORY: Master’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., instruction, educational
administration, public administration or a CTE program) from a regionally accredited
institution. Background in instruction, instructional research, and three years of progressive
responsibility in college or high school administration experience in planning, management,
and/or supervision of curriculum and instruction.

Requires excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Sensitivity to
and acceptance of diverse cultures and individuals expected. Must be computer literate and
open to the development and implementation of innovative delivery systems and enhanced
teaching through advanced information technologies.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends for
monthly Board meetings, other meetings, and public relations events.

PREFERRED: Oregon teaching and/or administrative experience. Three years of teaching
experience. Five years of progressively responsible college administrative experience.
Knowledge of and experience in grants. Bilingual in English-Spanish preferred.

development, faculty/staff hiring and supervision, programmatic prioritization and reviews,
budget development, fiscal monitoring and other related administrative activities with and
for the assigned program areas.

Serves on college-wide committees and works with the Directors and Administrators in a
team environment.

The Dean of Career, Technical, & Professional Education reports directly to the Vice
President of Academic Affairs and may assume some duties of the Vice President in his/her
absence.

Academic curriculum:
Administer college policies within assigned instructional program areas.

Administer collective bargaining policies determining class and faculty loads. As requested,
may be required to participate in labor negotiations as a member of the administrative
bargaining team.

Assist the Vice President of Academic Affairs with the development and quarterly/annual
class scheduling in consultation with faculty members within each assigned discipline or
program, and coordinate schedules with other areas of the college as needed.

Manage budgets within assigned areas, including state, federal, local and grant funds.
Works with the Directors, and Department Chairs in collecting and compiling budget data
within the framework of the total college budget.

Assist in program development, evaluation, vitalization, promotion, supervision and review.

Assist in the development and updating of a long-range plan for the entire instructional
program in line with the college’s strategic plan.

Assist in the preparation of materials regarding instruction for the college catalog and other
publications. Assist with identification and prioritization of equipment needs and purchases
for assigned program areas.

Provide guidance and mentoring for advisory committees in assigned program areas.

Serves as a member of the Academic Council and effectively communicate outcomes to
other areas on campus.

Administrative:
Lead student outcomes assessment for assigned areas, and supervise collection of data and maintenance of outcomes records.

Lead internal and external Department Evaluations and Program Review, institutional
effectiveness processes, accreditation and other assessment activities in assigned areas.

Actively promote, encourage, and support faculty development, excellence and innovative teaching. Perform evaluations of instructional staff in assigned areas in accordance with established evaluation procedures.

Work with the Vice President of Student Affairs to coordinate student retention efforts and enrollment management in accordance to the college’s strategic plan.

Responsible for writing, timely submission, and administration of appropriate grants within assigned area and in collaboration with the Dean of Instruction.

Supervision of Departments/Department Chairs:
Within area of assigned responsibility, work with the assigned Department Chairs, directors, and staff; evaluate performance; and make recommendations to the Vice President on organizational changes needed. He/She is responsible for supervision of the entire CTE area.

College/Community/State Involvement:
Represent instructional areas in college governance structure in Academic Council, in the
community, to professional organizations, and to other college and universities;

Represent TVCC’s instructional programs at the local, regional, state, and national level.
Assist with public relations as necessary and requested; and

Maintain liaison with secondary schools and four-year colleges to coordinate course offerings
and facilitate the transfer of students. Facilitate the expansion of dual credit course offerings
to include Tech Prep 2+2, Col Cred, and College Choice offerings.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, Administrative, exempt position.
