Job Description Summary
Assist the Dean of STEM with all aspects of management of Science and Math programs.
Knowledge
Knowledge of community college matriculation Knowledge of technical majors Knowledge of Assessment of Student Learning Knowledge of program level accreditation Knowledge of transfer programs within Science and Math. Exhibits functional knowledge and utilization of Microsoft Office Suite. Exhibits knowledge of the Ohio Department of Higher Education Guidelines & Procedures for Academic Program Review. Exhibits basic knowledge of budgets.

Essential Functions
Essential Function
Assist with Leadership in the School of STEM: Represent the School of STEM at events when the Dean is unavailable; Serve on councils and committees as appropriate; Cooperates with Enrollment Services in selected aspects of recruitment, admissions and placement of students within the departmental curricula and/or programs; Monitors expenditures within the budget. Initiates and recommends approval of all purchase orders and expenditures. Recommends student fees for labs or courses to the Dean.
Essential Function
Assists with Academic Administration in the School of STEM : Coordinate and manage departmental activities as directed by the dean; Provide support to coordination of student assessment; Collaborate with the dean to review programs and identify those that should be added, changed, deleted; Monitors course enrollments and adjusts the schedule as necessary. Provides leadership for assessment within the department curricula and programs. Reviews program level student learning outcomes and recommends corrections, changes or additions. Prepares and/or reviews assessment reports for core competencies, program(s), or curricula as appropriate; Specifically monitors attendance reporting and grade submission for faculty to ensure compliance with deadlines.
Essential Function
Assists with Personnel Management in the School of STEM: Hires, supervises and evaluates the lab coordinator and the lab techs. Represents (or appoints a designee) the department as a liaison with CCP. Performs necessary functions related to hiring both full time and adjunct faculty, such as recommending full time faculty positions to the Dean, positing of positions for advertisement, preparation of required hiring documents, appointing and supervising the hiring committee, interviewing, and recommending to the Dean the person for hire; Supervises departmental full time and adjunct faculty, evaluates the effectiveness of their instruction, takes corrective measures where appropriate and recommends their rehiring, promotion, or termination; Prepares full time and adjunct faculty teaching assignments including the monitoring of staffing capacity. Arranges for substitute teachers and prepares necessary documents related to substitute teaching.
