Job Summary
The HR Liaison will participate in all aspects of human resources activity in conjunction with the Department CAO, lead HR Liaison and HR Shared Services teams.
The HR Liaison will work directly with their assigned labs to gather necessary documentation to hire and renew all Non-Faculty Academic (NFA) positions, staff positions, volunteers, and without salary (WOS) appointments. This includes submission and tracking of all cases in People Connect and working directly with the finance team to ensure appropriate funding sources and the availability of funds. Initial funding entries in UCPath will also be processed by the HR Liaison
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The Department of Microbiology & Immunology is a basic science department within the School of Medicine that performs scientific research, training and teaching at Mission Bay and Parnassus Heights. Research in the department focuses on areas related to infectious diseases, immunology, and cancer. Our department also provides advanced research training to postdoctoral fellows and graduate students working towards their Ph.D. degrees.
The Department of Anatomy is a basic science department within the School of Medicine that performs scientific research, training and teaching. The Department includes 15 faculty members with primary full-time appointments, 15 faculty with joint appointments, and 50+ postdoctoral fellows and students engaged in research that covers questions in cell biology, developmental biology and the neurosciences. Faculty have laboratories at both the Parnassus Heights campus, where there is a focus of interest in cancer biology, and at the Mission Bay campus, where many of the neurobiology faculty are located. The administrative office of the Department is located at the Parnassus Heights campus. Anatomy faculty and staff are committed to building a diverse community that is welcoming and supportive, one that will nurture education and research.
The G.W. Hooper Research Foundation is an organized research unit within the Department of Microbiology & Immunology. We perform scientific research and training at Parnassus Heights.
The Parker Institute housed within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology includes six centers – UCSF, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Stanford Medicine, UCLA, the University of Pennsylvania and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Parker Institute’s goal is to accelerate the development of breakthrough immune therapies capable of turning cancer into a curable disease by ensuring the coordination and collaboration of the field’s top researchers and quickly translating their findings into patient treatments.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS with a major in a related field and 2 year of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing.
- Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a large institution understanding academic and staff human resources
- Experience working in an academic environment working with faculty, non-faculty academics, etc.
- Minimum of 2-years of project management and coordinating experience
