Postdoctoral Research Fellow – DNA Damage Response

Department: Radiation Oncology

Position Description:

Post-doctoral fellow positions are available in the Laboratory of Dr. Justin Leung, Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio), to study the molecular regulations of the Chromatin-DNA damage response pathway. Projects include (1) Chromatin, histone variants and epigenetics regulations; (2) Mechanistic characterization of novel DNA repair protein-complexes, and (3) Ionizing radiation and breast cancer etiology. Applicants with a background in some of the following are especially encouraged to apply: Molecular biology, DNA repair, mammalian cell culture, protein purification, bioinformatics and biochemistry research.

The key responsibilities of the position

  • Molecular biology approaches working with DNA, RNA, and proteins
  • Basic cell culture and protein purification
  • Western blotting and Immunostaining
  • Live cell-imaging microscopy
  • Basic computer skills, preparing manuscript and general lab organization


Position Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or Master degree in Cell Biology or Biochemistry related research
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques and gene editing
  • Strong work ethic and critical thinking
  • Open-minded, creative, enthusiastic personality and good collaboration skills
