Job Summary/Basic Function:
Coordinate and lead the planning, development, management, review and assessment of the Business and Information Technology and their programs. Create and maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning and to equity-minded student success,

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hiring/Staffing: Responsible for staffing courses, overseeing recruiting, and hiring of faculty
  • Development/Assessment/Supervision of Faculty: Provide meaningful faculty and staff development opportunities to enhance quality of instruction and student engagement. Observe and evaluate Business Pathways faculty in their teaching in accordance with the schedule and manner dictated by the collective bargaining contract; serves as administrative representative on Appointment Review Committees for business faculty; assists associate faculty who meet criteria in becoming senior associates; supervises faculty in instruction, advising and in administrative duties for which they are receiving stipends or reassigned time in accordance with faculty contract.
  • Oversight and ongoing assessment of Programs: Monitors, manages, and assesses the quality and effectiveness of Business Pathways programs (Business, Business Technology and IT) from an equity-minded student success lens. Promotes data-driven decision making.
  • Budget: develops, monitors, and manages departmental and program budgets. Ensure budgets are fiscally sustainable and aligned with the college strategic plan.
  • Program Development: Identifies growth opportunities for new college programming and oversees the program development process including comprehensive needs assessment, proposed curriculum content, budget and funding, and potential regional partnerships.
  • Diversity and Cultural Competencies: Advances the College's commitment to diversity and building cultural competencies through monitoring, assessment and management of admissions policies and practice (including re-admission appeals), curriculum design and instruction, assessment and grading, and termination/dismissals; models cultural competencies in all interpersonal contacts.
  • Manage disputes, complaints, and concerns of instructors about individual students or vice versa, including allegations of cheating, plagiarism or other unethical behavior, grade disputes, issues.
  • Foster a collegial and collaborative work environment for students, faculty, and staff; promotes consensus-building models in groups meetings and other collaborative processes.
  • Coordinates and leads mentoring activities between full-time and part-time faculty and ensures that associate faculty are oriented to the College, Business Pathway programs. and their courses, and that they are developing professionally and growing as instructors.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with regional employers. Ensures advisory boards are regularly convened and consulted
  • Provides service to college by serving on committees, maintaining confidentiality, exhibiting ethical work conduct, and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Ensures that admissions procedures and policies are faculty-driven and are in compliance with the policies and goals of the College.
  • Attends and represents the views of Business Pathway faculty, staff and students on administrative committees and advisory bodies



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters in Business, Business administration, Information Management or relevant field, including higher education administration
  • Preparation in education that includes teaching methods, curriculum development, and curriculum evaluation
  • Current knowledge of curricula/academic programs in business, IT (or equivalent) at the associate of applied baccalaureate degree level
  • Knowledge and/or experience of assessment practices in higher education
  • Familiarity with design and delivery of online programs
  • Supervisory experience in a union context
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in:

- addressing equity gaps in student success outcomes- redesigning student services and programs within an antiracist framework- building relationships and working effectively with ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse populations, community organizations, and the campus community

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading faculty development, especially related to issues of diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism
  • Experience developing new academic programs, especially at the applied baccalaureate level
  • Experience designing, delivering and/or managing online programs
  • Experience participating in or leading an accreditation process
  • Experience teaching college level courses in business, information technology or equivalent
  • Grant writing and/or grant management experience

Work Hours: Typical work hours are 8 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday with occasional night and weekend hours. Summer schedule is condensed to 4 10s, typically with Fridays off.
