Job Summary
Applicant should have experience isolating DNA from fecal matter, SNP genotyping, and microbiome characterization.
Applicant will review data analysis, prepare, and submit manuscripts from the unreported data generated over the previous 10 years on the southern beaches of Bioko.
Assist with the preparation of grant proposals for NSF, NIH, and other external sponsors.
Present findings at conferences. Applicant will be responsible for management of daily lab operations.
Essential Functions
- Oversee over-all daily operations of the Gonder Lab.
- Ensure biosafety compliance.
- Perform required experiments and track project progress.
- Participate in developing, evaluating, and implementing new research and field methods and protocols.
- Provide guidance and mentoring for undergraduates completing rotations in the Gonder Lab.
- Help with training of graduate students in lab methods, lab safety, biosafety compliance.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or Doctorate in Biology
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in related field.
- Experience with biological field research datasets in Central Africa.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Equatorial Guinea or Cameroon.
- Working knowledge of Spanish and French.
