Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Post-Doctoral Fellow at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Two postdoctoral fellow positions are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Shengyi (Iris) Sun, an Assistant Professor at the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. The main focus of the Sun lab is to delineate the physiological significance and underlying molecular mechanism of endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated protein degradation (ERAD) machinery in health and disease, with special focus on the regulation of liver homeostasis. The lab uses interdisciplinary state-of-the-art approaches, powered by cell type-specific mouse models and CRISPR technology, to address the important questions. The positions are funded by two NIH R01 grants and the salary will be based on the NIH standard and the years of experience.

JOB DUTIES
• Lead specific projects, design and perform experiments, troubleshoot, analyze data, and interpret results.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication and present results at scientific conferences.
• Collaborate with other lab members, communicate with collaborators, and contribute to promoting a successful research environment.



Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS
• A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in biomedical sciences, highly motivated and career-oriented.
• A demonstrated publication track record.
• Strong background and expertise in related fields such as cell biology, physiology or biochemistry.
• Experience in mouse work and models is a plus.
