The Department of Psychology at the University of Miami is recruiting a full-time child-clinical psychology postdoctoral associate focused on (1) broad psychoeducational assessment, (2) diagnostic assessment services for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and (3) transdiagnostic evidence-based interventions. The position is designed to fulfill licensure requirements in the State of Florida within one year.

Application Requirements

All applicants must have completed an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical, counseling, or school psychology; an APA-accredited doctoral internship; and all requirements for their Ph.D. or Psy.D. prior to the beginning of position.

The anticipated start date is August 21, 2023, and the duration of the position is one year. Renewal of the position for a second year may be offered and contingent upon satisfactory progress and availability of funding.

Activities

To ensure breadth and quality of training experiences, the fellow’s time will be spent across the following programs: Intervention/Treatment (40%), Assessment (40%), Supervision (10%), & Other Activities (10%).

Intervention / Treatment (40%): Child and Adolescent Mood and Anxiety Treatment (CAMAT):

The fellow will provide transdiagnostic, evidence-based individual and group treatment (CBT, CBIT) to children and adolescents with a variety of emotional and behavioral concerns through CAMAT. Website: https://camat.psy.miami.edu/clinical-services

Program for Emotional Problems in Children (PEP-C):

The fellow will provide evidence-based individual and group-based treatment to children and adolescents from Miami Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) through PEP-C. Website: https://psc.psy.miami.edu/um-psc-services/pep-c

Assessment (40%): Psychological Services Center (PSC)

The fellow will conduct psychoeducation evaluations (i.e., for ADHD, learning disorders, academic concerns) for children, adolescents, and young adults each month of position. Evaluations typically involve administration of intelligence, cognitive, and other measures and provision of assessment results to clients/families through follow-up feedback sessions; time is protected for scoring, integration, and report writing. Opportunities to conduct giftedness and other types of evaluations may be available.

Autism Spectrum Assessment Clinic (ASAC)

The post-doc will conduct comprehensive diagnostic, psychological, or psychoeducational assessments for individuals who have or are suspected of having ASD. Evaluations are provided for individuals across the lifespan (approximately 18 months through adulthood) and typically consist of evidence-based ASD diagnostic tools (e.g., ADOS-2, ADI-R, TELE-ASD-PEDS, BOSA), intellectual/cognitive/developmental testing, emotional/behavioral functioning assessment, adaptive behavior assessment, and/or academic achievement. Feedback sessions are also offered to clients following the evaluation.

Other Activities (10%):

The remaining 10% effort may be spent providing additional clinical services.

Supervision (10%):

The post-doc will receive individual or group supervision for therapy and assessment cases, research efforts, and other activities.
