Post-Doctoral Fellow, Memory Division

Job Description

The University of Virginia Department of Neurology – neuropsychology division is pleased to announce a new opportunity for recent Ph.D. graduates seeking specialized research training. Through the mentorship from our committed memory disorders faculty, the Fellow will gain invaluable experience on novel projects that align with the Virginia Alzheimer’s Disease Center goals in particular research involving a caregiver/person with dementia focus. The overall goal of this program is for the Neuropsychology Fellow to develop: foundational knowledge and principles of study design, conduct, and data analysis; and research expertise supporting an academic career in neuropsychology.

Fellows will collaborate and take a primary role in conducting research projects encompassing dementia and caregiver related work. Projects could span a variety of research disciplines including retrospective and prospective clinical research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, population-based database mining and innovative product development. Fellows will have the opportunity to complete projects already in progress, but when possible will oversee projects from initiation to completion.

Qualified candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a PhD in psychology.  The successful candidate for the fellowship will have a strong interest in clinical research within neurodegenerative disease, with prior experience in experimental design, data assessment/interpretation, scientific presentation, and scholarly writing.
