HIRING SALARY: $36,564.96 - $40,045.93 annually; all salary calculations to start at the minimum salary
HOURS: 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday with some evening and weekend exceptions at the direction of the Vice President.

MAJOR FUNCTION: The Welding Technologies Lead Instructor is a position housed at the Advanced Manufacturing and Training Center near TCC’s main campus. The Instructor’s major function is to effectively lead the Welding programs, creating an ideal learning environment, maintaining an appropriate balance of discipline, and being able to transfer knowledge to students, while staying abreast of evolving regulations within the industry. The Welding Technologies Lead Instructor must be dependable, highly responsible, independent, self-starting, and have the ability to interact with a diverse student population.
  • Provides a teaching environment (lecture, group, or individual) targeting a diverse population resulting in earning NCCER and AWS certifications. Educates and trains students to gain skills necessary to be successful as a welder and meet established goals related to student performance.
  • Provides administrative support for course logistics (i.e. scheduling and curriculum development) and oversight of student support services (e.g. advisement, orientation, job placement).
  • Assists when needed in the recruitment of students, marketing the program, and identifying community partnership and funding opportunities.
  • Works with the Program Manager and Program Specialist to coordinate the maintenance of student performance profiles, other audit records, and maintenance logs for equipment.
 
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must have at least a recognized high school diploma or GED. Must have experience at a journey level or technician level with at least 5 years of expertise in the trade or a minimum of three years of experience as a certified teacher in a Welding vocational/technical training program. All applicants will be required to submit to a criminal background check.

Organizational and interpersonal skills to lead and facilitate partnership activities with students, community groups, consortia, and colleagues within the College. Effective team member, flexible, with strong human relations skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Be self-motivated, self-directed, and creative. Skilled in the use of a personal computer, use of the Microsoft Office Suite, and using the World Wide Web for word processing and information gathering. Develop and implement strategies to market and promote the Welding Technologies Program. Coordinate the delivery of welding instruction. Design instruction to achieve student learning outcomes as defined by the College and specific departments and programs. Conduct class meetings with professionalism and enthusiasm that promotes respect for the discipline and education. Use appropriate technologies and media to enhance learning. Maintain confidentiality of student records according to FERPA guidelines. Maintain necessary educational credentials and professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment.
