JOB SUMMARY
Performs basic or applied research of a limited scope, primarily using existing theories and methods. Assists the supervisor in the interpretation and publication of results and grants. Maintains the laboratory and may exercise functional supervision over supporting research staff. Primary responsibility is ensuring that the research is complete.
The research group of Professor Yizhi You at Northeastern University in the Department of Physics invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in condensed matter theory. The successful candidate will conduct theoretical research at the interface of quantum information science, quantum many-body physics and quantum field theory. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, emergent fracton gauge theory, topological matter, new approaches for complex quantum systems and their applications in quantum technologies, entanglement dynamics and quantum complexity. The successful candidate would primarily work under the supervision of Prof Yizhi You, but would be encouraged to collaborate with other faculty members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent; be able to undertake substantially full-time research or scholarship; work under the supervision of a senior scholar. Candidates with strong numerical skills on DMRG, tensor-network, QMC are especially encouraged to apply. The initial appointment will be one year, renewable depending on mutual agreement up to three years. The start date of the appointment is summer 2023; there exists the possibility of starting early. Compensation for the position is competitive and travel support is available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Assist in initiating, executing, and completing research and experiments (65%).
* Prepare and write research papers, presentations, grant proposals (25%).
* Laboratory management (5%).
* Train graduate students (5%).
