Job Description

The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives assists the Chief Diversity Officer in developing and implementing initiatives that create a campus culture which embraces diversity and inclusion. The Director provides leadership of programs and services for students and employees in an effort to promote and enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion at Cayuga Community College.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assist in developing a College Diversity Council with broad and deep representation;
  • Ensure that the campus commitment to diversity is clear, transparent, and evident at all levels of and across the institution;
  • Promote a culture of student learning and development and cultivate creative approaches to providing student services, programs, and initiatives;
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the College diversity strategic plan and related strategies and actions that meet institutional aspirations and ensure that diversity planning has both internal and external credibility;
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Academic Affairs and faculty members to enhance and develop the vision, direction, and actualization of an inclusive co-curricular learning environment.
  • Develop and implement programming, workshops and training to promote cultural understanding and competency and a climate of equity and inclusion.
  • Work with Human Resources staff and other functional area supervisors to promote hiring practices which attract underrepresented candidates.
  • Counsel, advise, and consult with students, faculty, staff and alumni individually and collectively to embrace the importance of building an inclusive, appreciative, and welcoming environment.
  • Manage departmental budget, including the development of budget proposals and engagement in budget review and monitoring processes.
  • Create extended community partnerships to support the needs of diverse students and to serve as resources in times of crises;
  • Strengthen data collection relative to diversity and inclusion consistent with the broadest definition of the term;
  • When appropriate, participate in and contribute to System Administration-led diversity and inclusion efforts;
  • Represent the college in regional and local associations, civic clubs, ethnic and non-profit organizations’ Boards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with students in a higher education setting.
  • Current and extensive knowledge in the field of diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a community college setting.

COMPENSATION:

Salary depending on qualifications and experience.
